I have a 2016 Chevy Spark EV and have been really happy with the range and performance of the car... unless the temperature drops below 40 degrees. Then there are a few things I've noticed about the car and how I've been using it that I didn't like at all. I also realized that I'm not the only one... so here are a few quick tips for surviving the winter with an older EV (video above).

Just to clarify, you mean it's a good idea to leave the car plugged in all the time, not just when it's particularly hot or cold?

Generally, it depends on the car. Many have charge controllers that will stop the cars' charging at a certain percentage. If plugged in, the car can draw power from an external source to maintain battery temps and perform other functions as needed without using the power from the battery.

Generally, we recommend checking the owners manual and following its recommended procedures.
